Eye on the sky

Living at the water’s edge offers us a large view and ‘front row seat’ to the weather systems in our area. We face east south east and systems typically move from west to east. Often we can see what’s coming from our front window. With all the technology in our palm (mobile phone), we have incredible weather stations at our fingertips to get specific details!

This afternoon we had been out and about when we noticed the dark clouds on the western horizon. The radar confirmed something menacing was headed our way.

We hurried home to shut the windows and set up to watch the ‘show’.

Thankfully, the worst of the wind and rain passed just south of us. Spectacular nonetheless!

The image above is a composite of about 5 captured in portrait orientation then merged in Photoshop. I posted a video of the sky on my Facebook page as well. Check it out and like/follow my page while you’re there. Thanks!

A table for Two

Forty years ago today, we set out on a journey together as husband and wife. A few years later , the ‘table for two’ became 3 then 4 then 5. A decade and a half later (ish) two flew the coupe then a few years later our baby left the roost.

Over the following years additions to the families of our precious offspring eventually increased the number of ‘arrows in our quiver’ to 13! We look forward to a gathering of this precious group very soon but today on the day of our 40th wedding anniversary, it’s a lakeside table for two (even dusted off the wedding china!)

Side note: We planned to eat our yummy dinner of blue cheese encrusted tenderloin and strawberry pecan salad in the porch then decided the outdoor photo would be more impressive. The temperature went from 25 C to 30 something in the short time we prepped dinner! We ended up wimping out and retreated to enjoy the view from the cool air conditioning inside our little house on the lake.

Loving life together!

Sunrise, Sunset

May every sunrise hold more promise and every sunset hold more peace.

Vacation’s around the corner

Be water smart this summer. Wear your life jacket when boating!

Leaping Lab

We had some friends join us for an afternoon at the beach. Their Lab, Rocky provided great entertainment as he gleefully enjoyed the cold water.

I love how his tail curls in the same direction as his wake and the splash under his chin completes a half heart shape of white.

Boy, can this boy jump!

June 2016 Desktop Calendar

In celebration of the month with the longest day (and in our parts long, lingering sunsets). I’ve chosen one of my favourite sunset shots from one of my favourite sunset spots – Irene Lake.
