Drive by [photo] shooting #1

I rarely head out on the road without my camera and if I’m not driving often have it ‘locked and loaded’ in my lap.

On a recent road trip with my parents down the west side and up the east of Lake Huron, we crossed over the Mackinaw bridge.

The dreary weather darkened tree trunks causing the yellows of lingering leaves to brighten in contrast.  Here’s another shot on the fly.

Plus/Minus

I’m not talking hockey stats here. (I am a big fan of the game for those of you who don’t know me.) I’m talking Celsius degrees. We currently are experiencing a plus temperature reading during the day time and a minus temperature at night.  The frosty images in recent and upcoming posts are likely taken first thing in the morning.  This one was captured late one drizzly afternoon.  Not only was I drawn to the brillant reds of the apples in contrast to the greyness of the late fall day, but the way the gentle rain clung to the fruit.

Pumpkin time

In our part of the country, in October, a whole lot of orange appears; not the orange you may think.  I’m talking about Hunter Orange.  Gun hunters are required by law to wear blaze orange while out in the field.  From the air, they are easily spotted and fondly referred to as “pumpkins” by our pilots.

Last week I enjoyed a family celebration in SW Ontario.  My daughter, Joanna, who wears her blaze orange hoodie year round, posed in a pumpkin patch.

This angle is the opposite of the October desktop image. If you look closely you can see the chair at the end of the dock.

Quintessential fall

Is there anything that says ‘fall’ more than apples? Okay, besides coloured leaves…

I love how these are so not perfect – home grown and irregular. (No, I didn’t grow them. They were gratefully accepted from a friend.)

Paddle

We’ve been enjoying a gloriously warm fall (until yesterday). Last week, two good friends joined me for a paddle to the south end of Agimak Lake. What a treat!
