Successful cycle – Part 2

Our second caterpillar in pupa form was placed outside in the event it would become a butterfly in our absence. It appear it wouldn’t be long as the outer layer was thinning.

One time when we returned to check on it, we found the exterior was transparent and the creature inside was black!

I set up a video camera and waited. This is a summary of the result.

What a tremendous event to witness! And what a blessing to share it.

Pumpkin time

In our part of the country, in October, a whole lot of orange appears; not the orange you may think.  I’m talking about Hunter Orange.  Gun hunters are required by law to wear blaze orange while out in the field.  From the air, they are easily spotted and fondly referred to as “pumpkins” by our pilots.

Last week I enjoyed a family celebration in SW Ontario.  My daughter, Joanna, who wears her blaze orange hoodie year round, posed in a pumpkin patch.

Headed into my house to make lunch the other day (a commute of 20 steps from our office), I noticed a visitor to my coneflowers.

Lunch was put on hold briefly…After snapping more pictures than I care to admit and having lunch, I discovered another visitor.Joined by yet another. The airspace at Ignace Airways is a busy one!

hitch-hiker

The morning I set out to visit the meadow with irises, I took coffee in a travel mug (it was early).  This seemed like a good idea until I found the need to don my bug jacket.  Sipping from the cup required that either I unzip the part over my face or bring the mug up from underneath and inside the jacket.  Eventually, the mug sat cooling while I finished up the shoot.  I managed not to loose it in the grass and when back at home, discovered a stow away.

He (or she or it) slimed me with orange goo which took some doing to remove!
