Normally, when out with my camera, I have one companion along –
Lindor, our chocolate lab.
This particular night when the ice was on its way out…
directly behind me, waiting for another ball toss…
Jersey and Lindor.

Sky times 2

One of the best things about ice out is we are treated to twice the amount of sky!

Later this particular evening, the calm waters reflected an incredible array of twinkling stars.  I love living at the water’s edge!

Here today; gone tomorrow

I’m not sure why this ridge was formed in the ice. Perhaps the receding water levels below the frozen surface caused the sheet to buckle. There’s no room for the ice to shift as it hasn’t started to pull away from the shore yet.

The next day, it had collapsed.

Watch for more unusual ice images…

Shaggy edges

Mist rising from the creek during dark, cold nights, builds up the on snow at the surface. Beautiful, shaggy edges are formed.

Ice fog

Glancing out my front window today required a double take. The top of the island appeared to have been chopped right off! The layer of ice fog hung just below tree top level giving the effect of having given the island a brush cut.

I had to chuckle at God’s real version of a Photoshop technique!
