Fall Equinox 2011

This week has been passed somewhat in blur. I’ve been fortunate to tag along with my mom, aunt and cousin on a fall colour tour along the north shore of Lake Superior to Sault Ste Marie. We caught the Algoma Central Train for a ride to the Agawa Canyon. Here’s some of what we saw from the train (hehe).

More pictures to come. 🙂

Fireweed – week 6

Like all vegatation in the fall, the colours of the plant fade and brown. Seeds have been set free to settle elsewhere and await spring.

I love September. I think it’s my favourite month; always was. A return to routine, to school, having a new box of crayons and blank pages in the notebook.
In my backyard, the rising sun often chases away mist over the water or frost on the shore. Spectacular!

Agimak Glyphs

Looking back at pictures of the fall I wasn’t able to post (winter came so quickly), I found these.  Just beyond the edges of shoreline ice, the calm water reflects bent reeds to form graphic design.

Icy brush strokes

We’re half way through November and Agimak Lake has not yet frozen over completely.  After each calm night that the temperature drops below 0 C, we find beautiful brush strokes of ice.  In the next few posts, I’ll share some close-ups of the intricate, icy designs.
