Changing times

I’m not sure if it’s because of the pending ‘spring forward’ time change this week end or thoughts of spring cleaning but I decided it was tie to change up and clean up my blog. Hope you like the new header and layout. More changes to come.

Breathtaking

These images were taken the same misty morning I captured the March desktop calendar picture. I had folded up my tripod, packed away the camera and turned to head home when I spotted this delicate feather hanging by a hair in the birch branch. I held my breath as the slight movement of air was threatening to dislodge it before I could set up for some shots. The cloud cover broke just enough to grace the pure white crystals with a gentle glow.

Tinsel

The other morning the trees around my place were decorated with tinsel-like frost. I had commitments that morning that kept me from heading out with my camera to savour this rare spectacle but snapped these shots on my way out the door.

Superior shores

Having spent my formative years adjacent to and on the waters of the greatest of the Great Lakes, I have a never ending love for Lake Superior.  I was fortunate to grow up in Thunder Bay, Ontario and spend summer vacations sailing on the waters of one of the world’s largest bodies of fresh water.  For the past quarter century, though, I’ve lived at on the water’s edge of a much smaller, calmer body of water.  It’s always a treat to travel the shores of majestic Lake Superior, no matter the season.

Liquid canvas

I find it remarkable how the newly formed ice can look so much like oil paint brush strokes!
