Fall Equinox 2011

This week has been passed somewhat in blur. I’ve been fortunate to tag along with my mom, aunt and cousin on a fall colour tour along the north shore of Lake Superior to Sault Ste Marie. We caught the Algoma Central Train for a ride to the Agawa Canyon. Here’s some of what we saw from the train (hehe).

More pictures to come. 🙂

Lines

One more shot from the golden sunset evening: a study in lines.  The wake of a passing boat threatens to disturb the smooth surface in the grasses.  Fascinating textures are created.

Glitter

The reflection of the golden, setting sun is captured in surface tension of the lake surface where it meets the grasses. Each reed in the ray’s path is be-jewelled.

Naturally golden

The setting sun casts a golden glow over everything. The soft yellow of the fall grasses along the shore turns metalic. No filters were added nor colour adjustment done to this image. It is straight out of the camera (SOOTC)!

Fireweed – week 6

Like all vegatation in the fall, the colours of the plant fade and brown. Seeds have been set free to settle elsewhere and await spring.

Fireweed – week 5

Getting messy! The capsules continue to burst open with seed until every stalk is thick with white. Note to self: next time don’t wear dark clothing!

Speaking of dark clothing…of course, Lindor was along.  He is a chocolate lab, dark brown coat.  It was warm.  He’d wandered off.  It was getting dark.  I called him back and opened the vehicle door for him. He jumped in inadvertantly splattering mud all over!  Both he and my vehicle had a refreshing bath when we got home!
