I love September. I think it’s my favourite month; always was. A return to routine, to school, having a new box of crayons and blank pages in the notebook.
In my backyard, the rising sun often chases away mist over the water or frost on the shore. Spectacular!

Sundog at dawn

We haven’t seen the sun for a number of days but the vistas have been spectacular as cold humid air coated everything with white (pictures to follow).  Then this morning the sun rose to clear skies and celebrated with bonus colour!

Crystals in the air danced through the vertical bands of colour.

Icy brush strokes

We’re half way through November and Agimak Lake has not yet frozen over completely.  After each calm night that the temperature drops below 0 C, we find beautiful brush strokes of ice.  In the next few posts, I’ll share some close-ups of the intricate, icy designs.

Wet web

Another web to share from the other morning.  The morning mist, carried by the gentle move of air, gradually built up as droplets on the web’s strands.  Every so gently, droplets combined increasing in size.

The silvery globes invert a reflection of the misty shoreline.

Gradually, the mist thins enough to reveal the orange of the maples in the background.
