January 2015

Happy New Year! Here is a desktop calendar for you to enjoy. You can download specific screen resolutions from the Free Calendar dropdown menu or click here.

This creek runs north out of Sandbar Lake into Little Indian. The trees along its banks are typically frosted like this from November though April. Since it is only about a 15 minute drive from home, I visit frequently. Last winter there was so much snow even with snowshoes it was mid thigh deep. This season we have had so little snow that getting down to the water’s edge did not even require snowshoes! I plan to get back there as soon as the temperatures rise to at least -15C.2015-01_1440x900

A new year!
Will you be making changes to your life? Have you set goals? Are there exciting events ahead? I hope your answer to all three questions is yes.
Enjoy!

December 2014

The final month of 2014 is around the corner!

For the past few years, I’ve made photo calendars for gifts and for purchase. This December’s desktop calendar image (above) is the one I used for December in my printed 4″ x 6″ 2014 calendar.
2014-12
It took most of a previous winter to capture the shot I planned. I hung the oversized ornaments on a tree in near our home in early November and didn’t get the right combination of snow on the ground and large flakes in the air until March!

My 2015 calendars are ready for purchase. They retail for $10 and include a heavy a magnet clip. To have them shipped with the magnet clip would double the cost so I am offering to mail within Canada and the US without the magnet for $10 including postage. Payment would need to be made by e-transfer. Use the Contact Me link at the top of the page for more information.

November 2014

Sad to say but November tends to be a dreary month around our parts. All the beautiful fall colours have been blown away by October winds. Crisp frost and delicate snow have yet to return with bright freshness. In the meantime we watch the shades of grey dance on the water, in the sky and on the far shore.

October 2014

This fall we have been experiencing the most colourful and vivid fall shades we seen in a number of years. Having had two harsh frosts may have contributed to this unusual condition. Because of the lack of maples here, we typically see only the yellows of birch, poplar and tamarack mixed with the greens of pine, spruce and cedar. Any orange and red is usually proved by low berry bushes in the undergrowth. This season, the random maple is gloriously evident. Even a dreary day like the day these photos were taken, can be aglow.fall colours on lake shore

So for the October desktop calendar, I chose a back road scene with the full range of this season’s colour. Enjoy.free desktop calendar October 2014_1440x900

September 2014

Cool, calm autumn mornings at the lake create spectacular scenes. The warmth of the rising sun chasing away mist over the water awakens colour in everything it touches.

August 2014 Calendar – Island in the storm

One of my favourite aspects of living lake-side is watching the rain move across the lake. Whether a light shower or raging storm, the sight, sound and smell is amazing. This past week we experienced several days of sudden and brief thunderstorms. I was able to capture the dramatic change in the colours of sky, shore and water before heading for cover!

I decided to lay the calendars on two images taken in the sequence but could not decide which I liked better. So, I’ve set them both up so you can choose. Different screen resolutions can be found here.
