Liquid canvas

I find it remarkable how the newly formed ice can look so much like oil paint brush strokes!

Frozen dance

There’s nothing quite like sparkles of sun dancing on the surface of the lake.  But where the water transforms to ice, the sparkles conform to and highlight the graphic lines.

Ups and downs

During freeze and thaw, any wave action along the shore throws water that with cold enough temperatures, freezes above the water line.

On the edge

Agimak Lake froze tight and hid immediately under snow this year.  Usually, we enjoy days of freeze and thaw at the water’s edge.  Delicate textures are created while the ice forms.  In the next few posts I’ll share some of the beauty captured last year.

‘Tis the season of glistening snow.  For specific screen resolution sizes, go here.  Enjoy!

Shadows

Can you guess where this is?

Gaps between the dock boards allow snow to drop through creating a heating vent kind of look.
